David Roberts Nazareth Pocket Notebook
This mini-notebook is perfect for your purse or backpack. It has a hard cover with a spiral binding. The cover is beautifully illustrated with David Roberts' painting titled 'Mary's Well, Fountain of the Virgin, Nazareth'. Mary's Well is located in the center of modern Nazareth on the mail road. The monument is built over a natural spring which is the tradtional place where the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary that she will give birth to the son of God.
David Roberts traveled from Egypt across the Suez to Mount Sinai, Petra, Jerusalem, and the Galilee producing a large collection of drawings and watercolors of all the major holy sites. These works formed the basis of the tinted lithographs published soon after his return to England, a collection which enjoyed immense popularity in England and the United States. It provided the public the first glimpse of the biblical landscape and monuments known only by name. Today Roberts' works are still enjoyed by those who appreciate the beauty of the Holy Land.
