Gethsemane – Kirche aller Nationen
Geschenkpaket Heiliges Land - Wasser aus dem Jordan, Steine von Jerusalem und Olivenöl aus Galiläa
Gethsemane von Gat + Shemanim, bedeutet "Olivenölpresse". Es ist der Name der natürlichen Grotte neben dem "Grab der Maria" und ihrer Himmelfahrt.
Jesus besuchte oft die Grotte und hier wurde er verraten und verhaftet. Mit der Zeit wurde jedoch das gesamte Gebiet am Fuße des Ölbergs Gathsemane genannt.
Der Olivengarten - befindet sich über und rechts von der Grotte von Gethsemane (links von der Basillica, mit Blick auf die Fassade) und ist von einem Zaun umgeben. Hier gibt es acht Olivenbäume, die traditionell als stille Zeugen des Gebets und Leidens Jesu am Abend vor seiner Kreuzigung gelten.
Die Kirche aller Völker
Am Rande des Gartens steht die Kirche aller Nationen (die Basilika der Agonie), die um den Felsen herum gebaut wurde, wo Jesus in dieser schicksalhaften Nacht betete. Die Kirche wurde von Antonio Berluzzi entworfen und 1924 mit Geldern von christlichen Gemeinden auf der ganzen Welt gebaut – daher der Name. Die Kirche ist an ihrem atemberaubenden goldenen und farbigen Tympanonmosaik über dem Eingang zu erkennen, das Jesus, seine Anhänger und Jünger darstellt. Ein Teil einer früheren byzantinischen Kirche, die hier im 4. Jahrhundert stand, wurde in die Struktur der Kirche integriert. In der Kirche können Sie einen Teil des byzantinischen Mosaikbodens und den Felsen sehen, auf dem Jesus betete.
Diese Elemente repräsentieren einen tiefen spirituellen Wert für die Christen weltweit. Das Olivenöl stellen die Krankensalbung in vielen Versen dar (Markus 6:13). Erde von Bethlehem trägt den spirituellen Wert des Heiligen Landes (Markus 4: 8) Wasser des Jordan Wasser trägt spirituelle Werte der Taufe (1. Korinther: 12:13)
