Die Grabeskirche (auch Kirche der Anastasis, Kirche der Auferstehung und des Heiligen genannt) ist die heiligste christliche Stätte der Welt. Die Kirche befindet sich im christlichen Viertel der Altstadt von Jerusalem. Die Kirche umfasst die letzten vier (manche sagen fünf) Kreuzwegstationen entlang der Via Dolorosa. Diese heiligen Stätten waren der Ort, an dem Jesus auf Golgatha (Kalvarienberg) gekreuzigt wurde, am Kreuz starb und in einer Grabhöhle beigesetzt wurde wurde drei Tage nach seinem Tod auferweckt. Die Kirche ist seit dem 4. Jahrhundert ein Wallfahrtsort und heute wird die Grabstätte von Christen und Nichtchristen aus der ganzen Welt besucht.
Diese Elemente repräsentieren einen tiefen spirituellen Wert für die Christen weltweit. Das Olivenöl stellt in vielen Versen die Salbung der Kranken dar (Markus 6:13) Die Erde von Bethlehem trägt den spirituellen Wert des Heiligen Landes (Markus 4:8) Das Wasser des Jordans trägt die spirituellen Werte der Taufe (1. Korinther: 12 :13)
